Three weeks ago I finally decided upon an Android tablet to buy to replace the Nook Color that was stolen from me while touring Europe last May. I took my time selecting one that was reasonably priced and provided most of the features I wanted in a tablet. My highest priority was readability. As you probably already know, I read, a lot. In fact, I read almost any chance I get. News, magazines, blogs and ebooks. A larger screen means less scrolling for me and more time devoted to actual reading.

I’ll be adding this to be ‘short list’ of to-be-read ebooks based on my uncle’s review and recommendation.
The Astronomy Sketch of the Day from Monday, February 24, 2014, caught my eye this morning as I perused my various and varied news feeds. The artist, Greg Wing, used graphite pencil sketch on canvas overlaid with oil paints to achieve this representation of the Rosette Nebula.
Amazon’s system of employee monitoring is the most oppressive I have ever come across and combines state-of-the-art surveillance technology with the system of “functional foreman,” introduced by Taylor in the workshops of the Pennsylvania machine-tool industry in the 1890s.
I hope Germany sets a precedent that will finally wake up those in the US and UK who can improve working conditions and wages at Amazon facilities.
