A Cold Dark Oven

I’m thankful for many things this Thanksgiving.  Oddly, I’m somewhat thankful even for my cold, dark oven.

I’m thankful that I won’t be on my feet for hours today prepping and baking for a family gathering.  For the first time in I don’t know how many years, I will not be basting and roasting a turkey.  I won’t be making more stuffing (I already succumbed last week and made a huge batch of stuffing because I couldn’t help myself). I might not escape baking entirely today, though, as I may break down and make Sticky Buns because it’s a TRADITION!

On other thankful fronts, I’m eternally grateful to have such a wonderful and caring husband.  I continually pray for his health to improve that we might enjoy our golden years together without the extra stress.

As a direct result of my husband’s awesomeness, we are jointly thankful for:

Missing Mulberry Tree20151119_165549

That last one is a shout out to my father who helped dispose of an annoying mulberry tree to make room for a new dwarf cherry tree (to be planted on he outside of the privacy fence in the round bare patch shown above).

I regret not being able to have all of our children together in our house today.  But I am thankful they are all happy and healthy in Dallas and Seattle.  Sometimes it sucks to live in the Heart of America when your heart is divided by adult offspring living so far from each other and you.

I am thankful for you, my readers, friends and family, for stopping by and sharing in my gratitude today.

May you have a happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Happy Thanksgiving, so very grateful for friends like you! Wishing you warmth and happiness today.

    1. Happy Thanksgiving Janny and Don. You two are the best! Mostly rain in the forceast today. And lots of it. Great day to read a book and relax. Wishing you all the best.

  2. I am glad that I could contribute some of your happiness with the tree removal. I could also help with the consumption of the afore mentioned Sticky buns, should that be necessary. Love Dad.
